Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones reacted to the comment from his teammate Alexis Mac Allister after the match against West Ham United on Sunday.
After an emphatic 3-1 victory against West Ham United in the 6th game-week of PL, the Reds are currently in the 2nd place.
And to reach these heights even after losing the whole of midfield over the summer is quite commendable. The Merseysiders have made a turnaround within the span of just 3 months.
Liverpool made a jump from 5th place where they finished last season to 2nd place with the addition of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
Moreover, these reinforcements have worked out very well. All of them have integrated into the team seamlessly. And this has been reflecting on the pitch with their performances.
Mac Allister praises Liverpool teammate Curtis Jones
Both Jones and Mac Allister started in the midfield three of the Anfield giants on Sunday. And most importantly the Argentine provided an assist for the Darwin Nunez goal that put them in a 2-1 lead.
After the match, the 24-year-old faced LFCTV for the post-match interview. Instead of boasting about his own performance, he talked highly of his teammates, especially Jones. He stated,
“Dom [Szoboszlai] is a fantastic player, as [Wataru] Endo and Ryan [Gravenberch] are as well.
Curtis, we’ve got a lot of good players and I really enjoy playing with them.”
After this, he looked away from the camera and gave a little chuckle to someone off-camera. It was unclear then but a clip from Inside Anfield series has picked up that the person was Curtis Jones.
The England U-21 international replied to Alexis with a firm handshake,
“Thank you Macca, I heard that bro!”
Then they proceeded to greet each other with mutual smiles. This goes to show that the players have already formed strong bonds within themselves.
For Curtis even though he is not a regular starter for the Reds, his potential as a homegrown talent is quite immense.
And to get a compliment from a World Cup winner is something that he will remember for a long time.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
