Liverpool have been looking at various options not just in midfield, but also in the wings if Salah leaves and one name, is Karim Adeyemi.
While Liverpool focused on Jude Bellingham there was another player who was equally spectacular for Borussia Dortmund.
It is the German International Karim Adiyemi, who was signed to replace Robert Lewandowski.
Moreover, he is someone who has appeared on the transfer radar of the Reds previously. But he made a move from RB Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund last summer.
It now seems that his name has resurfaced, thanks to many reports, claiming that Mohamed Salah is keen on moving to Saudi.
Karim Adeyemi – A new name in the Liverpool books of Transfer Wishlist
As per Calciomercato, Karim is considered to be an heir to the Egyptian. The 21-year-old has similar characteristics to replace Salah.
Just like the Egyptian, he is also a left-footer, a good dribbler, and incredibly fast.
He has played at both the flanks and through the middle. His versatility will be an added bonus for Jurgen Klopp but he could directly slot into the right flank.
The German has a consistent track record of outperforming his expected goals and could eventually be the one to replicate the Egyptian’s goal-scoring record.
Additionally, on the ball, he is more of a dribbler than Salah and could be compared with prime Sadio Mane.
Also, the youngster is lightning quick and his breaking the all-time Bundesliga speed record is a testament to that.
He clocked 36.7 km/hour in a game against Freiburg, which is even faster than Alphonso Davis.
Could the youngster be Salah’s replacement?
Still just 21, Adeyemi has plenty of room for development as well. He will only get better and under a manager like Klopp, it’s scary to think how good he could become.
His main home for improvement is undoubtedly in his creative contribution. But even with 16th percentile pass completion among attacking midfielders and wingers in Europe, top five leagues he has managed 74th percentile assists and 73rd percentile expected assists over the past year.
But as is the case with every Dortmund player he would be rated extremely highly and would require a huge fee to acquire. We have seen the same with Bellingham and many others over the past few seasons.
In fact, as per many reports, his suggested price tag is £69 million which has been evaluated this summer.
This price tag is quite a lot but considering today’s market Liverpool are bound to splash the cash in order to get a quality player.
Even though there have been other names like Leroy Sane and Federico Chiesa, the 21-year-old could prove to be a long-term solution.
Although the Dortmund player is not as experienced, he could become a top player, if given a chance.
