The injury update regarding Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota after they joined the list of several other players is scaring Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds and the Sky Blues shared a point each in the clash on the weekend. Although it was enough for the Merseysiders who were visiting Etihad for the first time this season, the team is expected to perform better.
And some of the players did not deliver to their standards. On top of that two of the Anfield players Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota joined Andy Robertson, Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic in the injured players list.
Luis Diaz replaced Jota shortly after half-time as he looked in pain. And the Brazilian goalkeeper also was struggling with his feet.
Alisson & Jota: Injury update
The Reds goalkeeper suffered a tweak to his hamstring which he was seen holding as he left the pitch in the end. Speaking in the post-match conference, Klopp said,
“I hope it’s not that serious, but I don’t have the answer – no clue in the moment what it is. I spoke to him and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan.”
But as the current assumptions suggest, there is no particular date for the goalkeeper’s date of returning to action.
On the other hand, the Portuguese attacker fell to the ground clutching a muscle early in the second half. Jota will go through scans this week at the AXA Training Centre.
While the club will try to assess the situation regarding him, he will most certainly miss the games against LASK and Fulham.
Both these players, along with Robertson, Thiago, and Bajcetic are causing the German coach some trouble. Especially when the former two have been indispensable members of the squad for the past few seasons.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
