As per Football Insider, Liverpool are keen on signing the Portuguese midfielder, Ruben Neves, and have asked to be kept informed about the player.
The 26-year-old has told Wolves that he would be leaving the club this summer to seek out new a challenge. He bid farewell to the fans at Molineux in a rather emotional scenario.
He has been linked with Barcelona and Liverpool and it is said that the Reds are keeping tabs on the player. Moreover, their interest was waived off in January as Wolves didn’t want to sell him mid-season.
However, Wolves are likely to cash in on their captain in the coming window if their £50m asking price is met. But as per many Spanish reports, Neves has already had a verbal agreement with Barcelona over a potential move. However, this has not stopped Liverpool from keeping tabs on the player.
Liverpool to make a move for Neves?
Neves has 40 appearances for Wolves this season and has scored 6 times and assisted once. He has been a key player for the Wolverhampton club and is their current captain. Ever since their promotion in 2018, he has been a crucial part of the club.
He has 252 appearances since joining the club in 2017 and has 30 goals and 13 assists. Moreover, he is known for his incredible skill to thrust the ball from outside the box into the net, both in open-play and dead-ball situations.
Liverpool now play Europa League next season and would look to get back to their best. Klopp would look to revamp his side and focus more on the midfield position. After a number of midfielders leaving the club, Klopp needs to fill in the void.
Furthermore, Liverpool might have sealed the signing of Mac Allister from Brighton. He has bid farewell to the Brighton fans and has been speculated to have agreed ‘personal terms’ with Liverpool.
However, one midfield signing would not be enough as Klopp looks at other options in his wish-list. It is to be seen whether the ex-Porto man would be paying football for the Reds next season.
