The performance of Simon Hooper as a referee in a match involving Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur has garnered attention for the wrong reasons.
While much of the focus has been on a controversial decision related to Luis Diaz’s goal, another error has come to light.
Early in the match, a collision between Joe Gomez and Richarlison resulted in a free-kick being awarded to Spurs, which appeared to be the correct call.
However, what followed was Richarlison mimicking the act of showing a yellow card to Gomez in front of the referee, Simon Hooper.
Remarkably, just like the later incident involving Destiny Udogie, the referee chose to ignore this blatant unsporting behavior, failing to book Richarlison for his actions.
This incident can be seen in a video clip from LFCTV Go starting at 08:34 into the match.
Is this the Most unfair Match you have ever seen in the Premier League in recent times?
Liverpool is my Religion and Anfield is my Church. 17th May 1996 the date I had my blood coloured red. The one you love the most you can not live without it and that is football to me.
