Liverpool fans are preparing themselves for the inevitable departure of Jurgen Klopp but, a ray of hope has appeared in front of them in the name of Ruben Amorim, a rising coaching talent from Portugal.
Amorim’s transfer from Braga to Sporting Lisbon raised eyebrows as they had to pay a compensation of €10m which is very unheard of or unusual in Portuguese football.
The Sky Sports journalist told Peter Smith,
“He had such strong Benfica links as a player that Sporting fans were not sold by him, they were very opposed to it. He won them over quite quickly.
How?
With the progressive attacking football they play, the pizzaz and belief Sporting started to have in themselves, the fact in his first full season he delivers the league title after 19 years, domestic double, they’re only beaten once in the top-flight that season.”
But the Big Question Is: Can Amorim Handle the Pressure of Coaching Liverpool?
According to Peter Smith (Sky Sports journalist) favourable conditions are waiting at Anfield for Klopp’s successor.
This includes a world-class structure behind the scenes and a strong squad consisting of talents like Virgil van Dijk to summer signing Alexis Mac Allister.
However, we will miss some elite coaching staff like Pep Lijnders, Pete Krawietz and Victor Matos without any doubt.
There may not be a worse thing than joining the club to fill in the great shoes of our German tactician but there also may not be a better time when we consider what is being left behind for him.
In the middle of the links between Amorim and Liverpool, the 39-year-old said he cannot guarantee his stay at Sporting for next season,
“We have time to discuss my future, we will do that at the right time.
Sporting are dealing with their future and I can’t decide now because I gave my word, I can’t go back on that, so if I don’t win trophies, I’m going to leave Sporting.
That’s been very clear since the start. I felt it was important to get that across to the players because we have to win. We want to win trophies and we’ll decide on those things later.”
He added,
“I’m not worried about that right now. The future has been planned for quite a long time.
We’re all together as a club and looking into all situations and what we want for next season, so that’s the main reason why I can’t guarantee anything.
I said that to my players and as the leader I can’t go back on my word, as hard as that may be. We have to win trophies, we’re on track to do that and that’s why it’s so important to win our next game.”
Amorim’s journey from player to coach reflects his underdog spirit and relentless work ethic. Inspired by Jose Mourinho, he is known for his organized and intense style of play, traits echoed by fellow coaches like Vasco Seabra of Estoril.
As Liverpool brace for a post-Klopp era, the spotlight turns to Ruben Amorim, a coach whose rise defies convention.
