Liverpool still are heavily linked with Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia and they might have to work faster to make the move possible.
The Red’s efforts to rebuild the midfield are already underway. They have progressed quite a bit in their pursuit and signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. The two new signings have lifted up the team’s spirits and the fans rejoiced.
Although Liverpool bid goodbye to James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as their contracts expired last month. As a result, the club is lacking some depth in the midfield.
And now even first-team regulars like club captain Jordan Henderson and reliable defensive-midfielder Fabinho might be on their way to depart the club. Both experienced midfielders have received transfer offers from Saudi Pro League.
And due to these factors, new reports suggest that the Merseysiders are trying even harder to bring Lavia from Southampton.
The 19-year-old is interested to leave the Saints after their relegation from PL. He is also reportedly ready to agree to a contract for a potential move to Anfield.
Is Romeo Lavia move to Liverpool really happening?
Liverpool will officially make an offer for the Belgian international as soon as Jordan Henderson makes a decision about the Saudi move. On the positive side, reports indicate that Lavia has already spoken with Klopp.
He made it very clear that he wants to play for the Anfield side. So in this situation reaching an agreement regarding personal terms would not be much difficult.
Fabinho has served and been trusted in the no. 6 role for a long time. He has grown so much as a player under Klopp’s guidance throughout the years and demonstrated his brilliance.
However, his recent form has been pretty questionable in terms of defensive output. He looked jaded last season and will soon become 30. So his future also remains a big question.
So to secure the defensive-midfielder position, Liverpool needs a solid transfer and Romeo Lavia looks like the perfect candidate.
As per The Daily Mail, the 19-year-old will cost Liverpool around £45M. Although he might be young and inexperienced but he has massive potential to fit into his predecessors.
Taking all these things into account, the Reds should not jump into the new season with a complete set of new players.
Instead, they should focus on strategically integrating the new signings into Klopp’s system and ideas.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
