Liverpool are reportedly considering the possibility of signing Wolves winger Pedro Neto during the January transfer window.
The Reds have been monitoring the 23-year-old player for some time, and there is renewed interest in securing his services.
As per TEAMTalk, Neto’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is actively seeking a significant move for his client in 2024, and Liverpool are said to be firmly in contention.
Arsenal are also a potential destination, as both clubs have been closely scouting Neto in recent times.
Other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United, have also shown interest.
While there is an option for Neto to move to Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese international is reportedly keen on staying in England.
Wolves are reportedly open to cashing in on Neto’s impressive form, which could make a move to Liverpool a realistic possibility.
Graeme Bailey on Pedro Neto
Graeme Bailey, a journalist, stated that sources close to Wolves anticipate Neto’s departure in January, provided the valuation is met.
“I am told by sources close to Wolves that they are expecting Neto to leave in January. But their valuation would need to be met. He is under contract to 2027, but he is showing the sort of form that could persuade someone to make a move in January.
I understand that Jorge Mendes and his staff are confident that Neto will move in 2024 and most likely in January, but it will depend on the needs of those interested parties.”
However, despite Liverpool’s interest, it may come as a surprise if Neto were to join the club in January.
The Reds are not typically active in the winter transfer window for attacking players unless there is a specific need.
While Neto has been in excellent form, Liverpool’s forward line may not be a priority at the moment.
The situation could change if Mohamed Salah were to depart next summer, but if Neto leaves Wolves before that, it is uncertain whether he would head to Anfield.
