Liverpool are tracking Bristol City star Alex Scott ahead of a potential £25 million summer move, according to Sportsbible.
The 19-year-old is a graduate of Bristol City. He signed for the club from the Isthmian League side, Guernsey in 2020.
The midfielder has emerged as a first-team player under Nigel Pearson over the last two seasons. Since then, he has had nearly 75 appearances in which he has 5 goals and 7 assists.
At the tender age of 19, Scott has emerged as a top midfielder and is a ‘combative midfielder’. He has superb off-ball movements and is a good ball carrier for the team. Moreover, he also takes all the set pieces for the Championship team.
The Englishman also received high praise from Man City boss when the two sides met in the FA Cup fifth round earlier this season. Pep described Scott as ‘an unbelievable player’ during his post-match press conference.
‘Alex Scott is destined for a top football club’
With the rumours of the midfielder being linked to Liverpool, Pearson said that Bristol City would not accept anything less than £25m.
While talking to Bristol Live, Pearson spoke highly of the midfielder.
“He’s just a very unique talent and he’s got a very impressive temperament.
I think he’s destined for the very top but football dictates to you what is going to happen because you can’t always be in control of your own destiny.
Alex Scott will continue to progress and be a top player. He also knows he has the humility that he has to do it for us while he is here and he just enjoys playing football.
That’s good to have young, hungry players at the club as well as senior players who want to continue to perform and get better.”
According to a few reports, Liverpool sent scouts to watch Scott play for England under 20s, when they faced Germany last month.
The midfielder played for 70 minutes in that game where the Three Lions won the game 2-0. However, he was injured during the game against France, where he suffered a minor knee ligament injury. As a result, he missed the next two games for the Championship side.
Scott could, however, make his return for Monday evening’s clash against promotion-chasing Middlesbrough at Ashton Gate.
Moreover, the Reds would be watching him closely, if at all he plays as they are looking to revamp their midfield for the next season.
