TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has said that Chelsea midfielder, Mason Mount should not join Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Cascarino wrote in The Times that he is not convinced that Liverpool would be the best suitor for Mount. Moreover, he suggested that Arsenal would be the better club for the 24-year-old than Liverpool. The Englishman is currently valued at around £70 million by Chelsea.
The current Blues coach spoke about Mount’s situation which has suggested that the Englishman would be leaving his boyhood club, this summer.
With the growing sense of discrepancy between the two parties over the contract situation, many clubs have shown interest in signing the midfielder. Moreover, the poor form of Chelsea suggests that there would be no European football of any sort for the next season.
The potential arrival of Pochettino might be a boost, but the situation was similar when Potter was announced. There could be no conclusions drawn yet as we have to wait and see how the Argentine would transform the London Blues.
However, one thing could be said with utmost certainty that a lot of players would be leaving the club this summer if an attractive offer comes knocking at their door. The likes of Kovacic, Ziyech, Pulisic, and Kante, are already linked with a lot of clubs.
Mount as well has been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd, and Arsenal over the past few months. Moreover, Klopp has been keen on bringing Mac Allister and Mount to Anfield this summer. Mount has been now a long-term target for Liverpool.
Pundit suggests Mount should avoid Liverpool move
Cascarino wrote that he is not convinced that Liverpool is the best club for Mount.
“I’m not convinced Liverpool will be the best solution for him because Liverpool haven’t had an ambitious midfield recently.
They have enough up front, so they don’t have to risk another body from midfield, but they have lost three midfielders in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keïta, so Jürgen Klopp is looking for one. Liverpool is, without a doubt, a close second to Arsenal for Mount.”
There is no denying that Liverpool needs dynamic and energetic players in the midfield. Also, Mount could potentially rediscover his best form under Klopp.
Though the Reds are not competing in the Champions League next season, the Chelsea man has to consider Liverpool. If they get off to a good start and avoid mistakes in games like this season, they could very well be competing for the title as they have been in the previous seasons,
Moreover, he could be the catalyst in Klopp’s team and go down as a fan favourite as well. It is indeed a privilege, not many players get.
