Mason Mount to Liverpool

Mason Mount now closer to signing for Liverpool than ever before after bombshell update – report

Football Insider has revealed that Chelsea man, Mason Mount is set to depart the club and Liverpool are the favourites to sign him this summer.

The impending arrival of Mauricio Pochettino is said to have no bearing on the Englishman as he is all set to leave Chelsea. Other players like Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech are set to be leaving the North London club.

Chelsea are understood to want upwards of £70m for Mount, despite the midfielder’s contract running out in the summer of 2024. It is clear that they do not want to lose the player on a free transfer.

However, it might be extremely hard for the Blues to get a figure anywhere close to that. A decent midfielder yes, but the asking price from Chelsea seems a lot.

Liverpool must go for Mount

A few weeks back, it was reported that Liverpool were close to bringing Mount to Anfield. Moreover, the 24-year-old is positionally versatile and was a key player in their Champions League-winning campaign.

He flourished under Lampard and ever since, he hasn’t managed to impress the other two managers. He has seen little action this season as he has been out with an injury.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones came to life and has become the highest-scoring midfielder this season for the Reds. He scored twice in a 3-0 victory against Leicester on Monday.

He could be a regular for Klopp the next season. However, it is clear that the German needs a few quality signings if his team is to compete in every competition.

With the likes of Mount, Mac Allister, or even Gravenberch, the Reds should be able to keep up their hopes of competing in every competition.

Mount has been on Liverpool’s radar for a few months now. With Klopp looking to rebuild his midfield the next season, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Englishman is one of those that Klopp is looking to sign.

He could be money well spent for Liverpool as the creative midfielder could flourish under Klopp.
