Chelsea fans had reasons to celebrate over the summer when they successfully secured the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, both of whom were heavily pursued by Liverpool.
Now, history might be on the verge of repeating itself with another potential transfer target willing to make a move to Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool had identified Caicedo and Lavia as their top midfield targets in the summer, making substantial efforts to bring them to Anfield.
However, both players chose to reject Jurgen Klopp’s advances and opted for Chelsea instead.
A similar scenario could unfold soon, as Liverpool are among the clubs expressing interest in signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.
Dorgu, an 18-year-old prodigious talent, made his Serie A debut at the beginning of this season.
Interestingly, his career path might have taken a different turn if it weren’t for his agent’s intervention during the summer.
In June, Dorgu’s agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, revealed that the Reds had a keen interest in signing the young defender after closely monitoring his performances.

Manchester City and Barcelona were also reportedly keeping tabs on him. However, Ogbodo advised Dorgu to reject Liverpool’s offer, as it would likely result in him playing for the U23 team rather than the first team.
While Liverpool, Manchester City, and Barcelona continue to monitor Dorgu’s progress, the player himself has expressed a dream of playing for Chelsea.
Patrick Dorgu prefers Chelsea over Liverpool, Barcelona and Man City
Dorgu stated that Chelsea has been his favorite club for over a decade, making it a significant aspiration for him to don the Blues jersey.
Dorgu told Ekstra Bladet:
“Chelsea is my dream to play for.
I’ve been a fan of them for over ten years, so playing for them would be a huge dream.”
For the Merseysiders, the prospect of another transfer target potentially joining Chelsea might be unsettling.
In the summer, Liverpool came close to signing Moises Caicedo, with a deal agreed upon with Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, Caicedo ultimately opted for Chelsea, dealing a setback to Liverpool’s plans. A similar situation occurred with Romeo Lavia, further frustrating Liverpool’s transfer ambitions.
Despite these setbacks, Liverpool managed to recover well in the transfer market. However, the memories of those missed opportunities still linger for many of the club’s fans.
