Liverpool midfield target, Romeo Lavia who joined Chelsea this summer, has suffered a heart-breaking injury which could potentially be a tear in the ankle muscle.
As per reports, the Belgian has suffered an injury in training which could potentially be a muscle tear in the ankle.
The former Southampton man had been heavily linked with Klopp’s Liverpool throughout the summer window. But they were beaten by Chelsea at the last moment following a fascinating transfer saga over the summer.
He wasn’t the only one as Moises Caicedo was also involved in what was one of the craziest transfer sagas of the summer.
Of course, it is a shame that the Reds couldn’t land either of them. Lavia was one of the most sought-after players with Pep also hailing the teenager as an exciting prospect.
But there could be no regrets for the Reds as they ended the transfer window on a great note. They signed 4 midfielders – Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
Also, the Anfield club started the season off on a great note, staying undefeated in their opening 4 games.
On the contrary, Chelsea have lost 2 of their opening 4 games, winning only 1 game. The new signing, Romeo Lavia is yet to feature for the Blues but now it seems that he would have to wait even further.
Romeo Lavia, a Liverpool target, injured before starting for Chelsea
As per The Guardian, the Belgian has suffered a major injury in the training session which will delay his Chelsea debut.
Meanwhile, the Blues are waiting on the results of a scan on Lavia. He is being assessed after he picked up a knock during the training session.
This is a huge blow for Chelsea as they have already suffered more personnel deficits. One of them being Christopher Nkunku. He has been ruled out for 16 weeks after he underwent knee surgery during pre-season.
Their captain, Reece James is another one after he was ruled out even after the campaign began, due to a hamstring injury. He hasn’t played since his appearance on the opening weekend against Liverpool.
Trevoh Chalobah, the 24-year-old centre-back is out with a muscle problem. And Carney Chukwuemeka, the 19-year-old midfielder, was ruled out for six weeks after injuring a knee during last month’s defeat to West Ham.
Meanwhile, Armando Broja and Benoît Badiashile are working their way back from long-term issues. We shouldn’t say this but think twice before snubbing Liverpool from next time.
