Liverpool are hit with another awful news as their PL rivals, Manchester City will prioritise the signing of Benjamin Pavard as it seems that Bayern will sign Kyle Walker this summer.
The Italian, Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter that the Treble winners have put the Frenchman at the top of their wishlist. Their current RB, Kyle Walker is said to have agreed on a move to the German champions, Bayern.
This has left Liverpool fans worrying as City could potentially snatch another Reds’ defensive target. The previous one was the Croatian centre-half, Josko Gvardiol.
Now, the Champions are in pursuit of the World Cup winner should Kyle Walker go the other way. This scenario is looking highly likely to happen this summer.
After losing Cancelo to Bayern, albeit on loan in January, the Manchester club twitched their tactics and won the treble.
This, however, limited Walker’s game time, and was reportedly unhappy. So when Bayern came knocking, the player agreed to switch clubs.
Meanwhile, the Reds were previously linked with the Frenchman. But now it seems like Pep’s forces would join the race as well.
City joins Liverpool in race to sign Pavard
Benjamin Pavard would be good for Manchester City. His ability to move into a number of positions and the fact he’s so good with the ball means he’s ideal for City.
However, he would be a great fit for Klopp as well, slotting alongside Van Dijk and Konate in a defensive 3. This could be possible if Klopp would use the same tactics deploying Trent in the midfield.
But, the delay in Liverpool’s pursuit has been a boon to City. And they could grab the opportunity to land the ‘underrated’ £26m player who Liverpool have spoken to.
It is now to be seen whether City would push to sign the 27-year-old or Liverpool would make a swift move for the defender.
