Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita will likely play against Man United despite suffering an injury in the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Guinean international missed Wednesday’s 2-0 victory against Wolves after he was taken off against Crystal Palace last Saturday at halftime.

Writer Ian Doyle verified that Keita missed that game owing to an injury. It was casting doubt on his availability to play against United.

Injuries have plagued the midfielder all season, preventing him from playing between August and November for three months. But since making a comeback, he has frequently played for Klopp.

Before the United match, Klopp stated that all Reds players were “fine” following the final training session, except for the injured trio of Thiago, Luis Diaz, and Joe Gomez. This seems to give Keita the all-clear to play again.

Klopp gave an injury update before Liverpool vs Man United

The German explained (via talkSPORT):

“Yesterday evening they were all fine, apart from the players who are out – Thiago and Luis Diaz. Joey [Gomez] is closer, but not close enough.”

The Reds will benefit from Keita’s comeback as this will be United’s third game in seven days.

Liverpool fans will be hopeful that a return date is announced for Thiago.

Diaz is likely to return to action during the international break, giving the Reds’ team extra firepower as they compete for a Champions League qualification spot.

They presently trail Tottenham in fourth place by six points, but Conte’s team has a game left to play. Both teams, still competing in the Champions League this season, will have to overcome deficits to AC Milan and Real Madrid in their last 16 matches.

Liverpool currently are on a terrible run. It is the complete opposite of what the situation was last season. They were competing for every single trophy till the last day of the season. Klopp would be hoping for a turn-around and take them where they belong.
