Fabinho has told talkSPORT Mohamed Salah is happy at Liverpool and hopes his former teammate stays at Anfield rather than join him in Saudi Arabia.
The former Liverpool man left Anfield this summer to join Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. Furthermore, the club bid a record fee to land Salah in Saudi but was unsuccessful.
The Saudi Pro League champions had a huge offer rising to £150m knocked back by the Reds. This decision by the Merseysiders has paid off, as the 31-year-old has started great this season too.
The winger is the top-scorer for Liverpool this season with 14 goals, only behind Haaland in the league. Moreover, he recently achieved a milestone by scoring his 200th goal for the club against Crystal Palace.
He is only the 5th player to reach that milestone, as he has already cemented his status as an Anfield legend. However, the rumours never seem to go away as links to Saudi have re-emerged.
Salah happy at Liverpool: Fabinho
The Egyptian’s contract runs till June 2025, making him the club’s highest-paid player. Moreover, Klopp earlier this season, was left marvelling at his physical condition. He stated that Salah has the body of a 19-year-old despite being 31 already.
However, reports have stated that this might be Salah’s final season at Anfield. After bringing in a lot of big names, the Saudi League is now behind Salah and is confident of securing his services the next season.
However, former Liverpool midfielder and current Saudi Pro League star Fabinho has hinted that Salah has no plans to leave Liverpool.
“At this moment Mo Salah is happy at Liverpool. This season he will stay at Liverpool so I wish him all the best and hope he keeps scoring goals and winning trophies with Liverpool.
I’m really happy for the boys. At the moment they are top of the league, of course there is still much to play in the Premier League and there are some clubs next to them like Arsenal, Man City, even Aston Villa, they are doing very well this season.
So there is much to play in the competition, but it is always good to be at the top. You always have to try to be top of the league and winning games and Liverpool are doing this now.
They are finding a way to win and finding goals after the 90 minutes, and this is really good. It shows their mentality and shows how good they are. They are really focussed on trying to win the championship.”
This is a huge relief for the Liverpool faithful and gives them a massive boost for the next season already.
