Liverpool will be facing latest Premier League promotee Luton Town this Sunday and it is the first time Jurgen Klopp will face them.
Jurgen Klopp and this Reds team together have achieved many great heights in the past eight years.
Since taking charge back in 2015, the German coach has led the team to winning almost every silverware, most notably, the Premier League title in 2020 and the UEFA Champions League in 2019.
And in the process of managing the Merseyside giants, Klopp has faced almost every major club in the UK. However, there is one club that he has yet to face and that is Luton Town.
The Anfield side will travel to Bedfordshire for their first PL clash against the team almost after 16 years since their last encounter back in January 2008 in the FA Cup (according to lfchistory.net).
And the LFC boss in particular is very eager to face them.
Jurgen Klopp excited for Liverpool vs Luton Town
The Hatters’ Kenilworth Road stadium has become a laughing stock on the internet for its appearance.
However, Klopp is not at all fazed by all the online traction. Speaking in the pre-match press conference on Friday, he stated,
“I heard about it [Kenilworth Road] but I didn’t see it yet. It’s one ground I haven’t been to before; I’m looking forward to it. I heard the dressing room isn’t massive, but all I need is a pitch, an opponent and us there. It’s exciting, I love the story.”
While talking about the tactical side if the game, he said,
“We will probably face a low block. We will probably face set pieces with quality. It’s Luton but it’s not the first time we will face a team who play that way.”
Luton is the second team in the PL in terms of goals scored from set-pieces just after Everton. So the Reds have to be cautious about the dead-ball situations.
But it will be safe to predict that Liverpool will quite comfortably register a win against the 18th-placed team.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
