Liverpool are reportedly looking into the prospect of bringing in Richard Hughes as new Sporting Director at the club in place of Jorg Schmadtke.

The saddening announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Anfield in the coming summer has taken a toll on the club and the fans.
The news came in unexpectedly in the middle of the season when the Reds are cruising in great form. Klopp and Co. have so far have surprised everyone with their performances across all competitions.
The German’s decision to leave the club has taken the footballing world by storm. Along with that news came forward another update about several other coaching staff choosing to pack their bags as well.
The likes of assistant managers Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, as well as first-team development coach Vitor Matos are bound to leave LFC this summer.
FSG has a lot of work that needs to be done before the beginning of the 2024-25 season. But there is another department that urgently begs for hiring.
Richard Hughes Could Be The Next Liverpool Sporting Director
Jorg Schmadtke, the current Liverpool Sporting Director, will be leaving Anfield by the end of the winter transfer window. So the position needs to be filled at the earliest.
Since joining the club in January 2023, the German was responsible for all the signings the Reds executed.
Schmadtke also orchestrated the extensive midfield rebuild over the summer, the outcome of which the club is still enjoying very much.
However, his departure means FSG has to hire someone new. Thus, according to a report via The Daily Mail, Liverpool are considering Richard Hughes as Schmadtke’s successor.
The former PL midfielder chose the technical side of the game after his retirement in 2014. He joined Bournemouth’s technical team while Eddie Howe was the manager and was promoted to technical director.
The 44-year-old has enjoyed success as some of his signings for Andoni Iraola have impressed this season in the PL.
As the season gets interesting with every game, it now remains to be seen how the club manages their inner workings amid the staff crisis.
