Liverpool have been targeting Bayern midfielder, Ryan Gravenberch for a long time now and reports had suggested that the player wasn’t for sale by the club.
However, the player has been emphasizing the lack of his playing time since he was transferred from Ajax the last season. Meanwhile, he has been assured of playtime and has been urged to remain ‘patient’ by Thomas Tuchel.
The German went on to say that the 21-year-old is very much in his tactical plans. This, however, shut the door for a potential transfer of the Dutchman to Anfield.
Liverpool still hopeful of signing Ryan Gravenberch?
Last month, Liverpool began to ramp up their search for midfield reinforcements. They are understood to have met with Gravenberch’s representatives in Amsterdam to discuss a transfer.
But since then, speculation has since dried up after Bayern made it clear that intend to keep the former Ajax maestro, who remains key to their future plans.
However, the player has now taken matters into his own hands. He has outlined his willingness to pursue a new challenge if Bayern aren’t prepared to match his ambitions. This has placed Liverpool on red alert.
While speaking to De Telegraaf, the midfielder said that he wants to play more.
“I want to play more… preferably at Bayern. Otherwise at a club where I’ll 100 per cent play. That’s my plan.
I don’t want to have another year like the one I’ve just had — I’ll speak to the coach in the next weeks then we will see.”
The Dutchman has made 24 appearances but has only 3 starts to his name, 2 of which came in the final games of the season.
His counterpart in Jamal Musiala has been taking the headlines and this has hindered the midfielder’s game time.
This has been one of the major factors for the player when he was seemingly interested in a move to Anfield. The Reds are currently monitoring Ryan and also are moving swiftly with their other targets- Kone and Thuram.
Other targets for the Reds in the midfield
The Reds have been in the market for midfielders and have a long list of them. After securing the signing of the Argentine, Mac Allister, Klopp is looking to bring in another couple of players.
The likes of Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone, and Gabri Veiga are being talked about a lot. The fans would love to see a young and exciting group of midfielders at Anfield the next season. However, it is upto Jorg and the board to make moves in the transfer market before their rivals.
While it has also been reported that the French Club, OGC Nice, have started negotiations with the Reds for their star midfielder Khephren Thuram.
