Liverpool are on the verge of signing a promising Spanish wonderkid Gabri Veiga, often referred to as ‘the Spanish Musiala,’ in a move that will outdo their Premier League rivals Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Arsenal.
Liverpool Targets Spanish Sensation Gabri Veiga
As part of Jurgen Klopp’s ongoing rebuilding efforts, Liverpool have already secured the £35 million signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion. However, with the departures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner, Liverpool aims to strengthen their midfield further by filling the void.
The Reds are now engaged in advanced talks with Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, a highly talented player who has drawn comparisons to Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala due to his dribbling ability, direct style, and agility.
Veiga: Perfect fit for Klopp’s project
As an attacking midfielder capable of playing on the wings, Veiga would be a valuable addition to Klopp’s team. Liverpool hopes to finalize the deal before Chelsea can make a move, as the Blues have recently expressed their interest.
Although Veiga was previously linked with Arsenal, Liverpool’s willingness to meet Celta Vigo’s reported £35 million release clause suggests their determination to secure the young Spanish talent.
Despite concerns about investing a similar amount to what they paid for Mac Allister, Liverpool sees Veiga as a potential fit for their new tactical formation, a 3-2-5 shape that emphasizes the role of the number eights pushing into the final third.
Reds are leading the race
Veiga’s breakthrough season in La Liga has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle. However, Liverpool appears to be in the driving seat for his signature, having made significant progress in negotiations.
Celta Vigo’s president, Carlos Mourino, has acknowledged that they cannot prevent Veiga’s departure and that the decision ultimately lies with the player.
“We do not want to sell Gabri Veiga, but they are going to buy him from us and there is nothing we can do.”
Mourino said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.
“We know some of their offers, and it is impossible to get there. There are several teams behind Gabri.
Of the top ten in the Premier (League), four have asked for him. For us, and to make it clear, he is not for sale.
We have nothing to negotiate with anyone – we refer to the clause. The decision is Gabri’s – he will play wherever he wants.”
Liverpool’s pursuit of Veiga highlights their ambition to strengthen their squad and adapt to Klopp’s tactical vision.
