Liverpool star Roberto Firmino might be joining Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy in the Saudi Pro League. The goalkeeper will move out of Chelsea this season.
One of the best-attacking trios in Liverpool’s history came to an end last season as Sadio Mane left last season. He joined the German side Bayern Munich and neither the club nor the Senegalese had a good season.
The club felt the absence of the attacker. And now Roberto Firmino is among him and Mohammed Salah is on his way to leave Anfield.
The Brazilian’s contract with the Merseysiders is expiring on June 30th. So he will become a free agent and will be able to negotiate deals with any club.
Clubs like Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Real Madrid have shown interest in signing him. The expectations were that he would stay in Europe.
Roberto Firmino to move out of Liverpool and join Chelsea star?
However, a new report by Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Firmino is in discussions for a potential move to the uprising Saudi Pro League.
the transfer expert reported that the 31-year-old and his agents are in talks with the Saudi side AL Ahli. Negotiations are ongoing but the club still waiting for a final decision from the striker.
Although Al Ahli is very optimistic about the transfer and are already ‘preparing medicals’. Another update from Romano reveals that Al Ahli have offered Firmino a three-year contract expiring in 2026.
If this move goes through then the Liverpool man will join another PL player, Edouard Mendy. The Chelsea goalkeeper has agreed to personal terms with the Saudi club and will move from London for just £16M.
As per the Evening Standard, a medical for him is already scheduled. The goalkeeper has been a starter for Chelsea replacing Kepa since joining in 2020.
Although Mendy would not be the only familiar face for Firmino. Players like Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech, and many others have joined the league. This will definitely bring some more attention to the Saudi league.
