Liverpool receives major boost as 5 injured players return to first-team training ahead of the derby

Liverpool gets a training boost, with five players back at the AXA training center on Thursday.
The Reds returned to training on Wednesday, with those involved in the 3-0 Wolves defeat on Saturday given time off before recovering, and preparations are now underway for the Merseyside derby.
Liverpool additional training boost
With the first team taking part in training on Thursday Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and Arthur were all pictured with the squad.
Jota and Arthur appeared to be more heavily involved, joining small-side games, but both Van Dijk and Firmino worked with the ball as they took in a mix of group and individual training.
It could be that Jota and Melo find themselves in consideration for a place on the bench for the Merseyside derby game.
There was no sign of Thiago with the squad, but the absence does not mean he is suffering from any specific set of injuries.
Given his recent workload in midfield and history of injury, it would be no surprise if the Spaniard was simply working alone to be fit for Monday.
Fabio Carvalho was also not pictured by the club’s photographers, neither were Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, and Marcelo Pitauga, who are known to deal with their respective injuries.
Bobby Clark joined the senior squad, though, academy goalkeepers Harvey Davies, Jakub Ojrzynski, and Fabian Mrozek were all called up to increase the squad depth.
What’s next for LFC?
Liverpool are in desperate need of a win. They are currently sitting at the 10th position in the league standing. Thus, the addition of injured players returning to training will boost morale in the Red’s camp.
The Reds are out of FA Cup and League Cup while they are going to face Real Madrid in the Round of 16 in the Champions League. Thus, the games against The Toffees will definitely help Klopp’s troop in gaining some momentum.
