Liverpool are back in the race for midfielder Manuel Ugarte along with Chelsea and Newcastle United heating up the race.

The Reds have decided to pay €60M for a Uruguayan midfielder according to a report by La Parisien via Sports Witness.

Chelsea and Newcastle have been contesting furiously for the 22-year-old. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are also present in the mix for this player.

Liverpool might take the lead in Manuel Ugarte transfer saga

The transfer of the Uruguayan looks simple with the €60M release clause. Whoever pays the fee will have him keeping in mind which club the player chooses to join. Sporting CP will not accept anything less than the fee mentioned.

For the last few days, there has been a lot of talks and speculations regarding the midfielder’s transfer. Chelsea and Newcastle have reportedly agreed to pay the release clause for Ugarte which has put them a step closer in this transfer saga.

Paris Saint-Germain have also shown interest in the midfielder and will probably be the first club to submit a bid. But Liverpool re-entering the race, even after cooling their interest previously, will definitely make things more complex.

The Merseyside giants have already started their expedition to rebuild their midfield with potential signings of Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount, and others. The signing of Ugarte will strengthen the midfield defensively.

The Uruguayan is a no-nonsense, hard-tackling defensive midfielder who doesn’t hesitate to go in for challenges to defend his half. He will be a competitor & a possible replacement for Fabinho.

Now, the board members have apparently left the decision up to Klopp. He will decide if he needs the midfielder for his style of play and the team.

Moreover, according to reports, Ugarte will prefer English teams over PSG. Chelsea are the front-runners for the Uruguayan, the coming weeks will be crucial for this saga.
