During the summer transfer window, Liverpool made a significant move by acquiring Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, and the Hungarian has since emerged as a standout signing for Anfield. Recent reports suggest that the club is now eyeing another Leipzig player, Lois Openda.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has indicated that Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, are keenly pursuing Openda.
Tavolieri praised Openda’s impressive performance, noting his seamless adaptation to RB Leipzig’s style of play.
The 23-year-old forward, who scored 21 goals for Lens in Ligue 1 last season, joined Leipzig for a fee close to 43 million euros.
In the current campaign, Openda has started 19 games for Leipzig, contributing directly to 16 goals with 13 goals and 3 assists.
Despite the interest from Liverpool, Tavolieri had previously revealed Manchester United’s interest in the striker, valuing him at around 90 million euros (£77 million).
While Openda’s goal-scoring prowess is evident, Liverpool’s attacking lineup, led by Jurgen Klopp, already boasts quality and depth.
Players like Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota have proven effective in the No.9/False No.9 position.
Given this, it may be argued that Liverpool currently does not have a pressing need for an out-and-out striker like Lois Openda.
Liverpool is my Religion and Anfield is my Church. 17th May 1996 the date I had my blood coloured red. The one you love the most you can not live without it and that is football to me.
