As per Football Insider, Liverpool are in a two-horse race for the signing of Evan Ndicka, as he would be available for free this summer.

The Frenchman is set to leave the Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer as his contract is set to expire, making him a free agent. The 23-year-old is not ready to sign an extension and seems to be keen on a challenge elsewhere.

The defender had been previously linked to Liverpool but now Spurs have entered the race to sign the Frankfurt man.

The player, however, fits the backline of both clubs without a doubt. And both the PL giants are said to make proposals at the end of the season.

Liverpool and Spurs battle it out for Ndicka

Ndicka is a crucial part of the Frankfurt squad and with his physical prowess, he’s a powerhouse player in both boxes.

He stands at 6ft 3″ and has clocked a top speed of 34.37km/h according to the official Bundesliga stats.

The 23-year-old has made 38 appearances for the German club this season and has a goal and an assist.

Moreover, he played every minute of Frankfurt’s Champions League campaign this season. Eventually, Napoli knocked the German club out of the competition, last month.

Ndicka primarily plays as a left-sided centre-back and both clubs are eager to improve this position this summer.

Even though Klopp seems to be looking at the midfield, the defence has also been an issue this season. With Matip and Gomez reportedly leaving, it leaves the Reds with only Konate and Van Dijk as first-team defenders.

The Reds need to bolster their squad for the next season as they have been disappointing this time around. Also, they need to up their game in order to qualify for the Champions League the next season.

Moreover, with the quality of Ndicka who would be available as a free agent, it is worth the gamble for Liverpool.
