Liverpool have to agree to dropped fee of £20.6M to secure midfield signing: Report

Liverpool could try to sign midfielder Manu Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach coming winter after his price dropped to £20.6M.

The Anfield giants completed one of their biggest rebuild projects in recent times this summer. The club signed four midfielders to execute the midfield rehaul.

And in this process, the Reds were linked with almost every available midfielder from the major leagues around the globe.

However, most of the midfield links came from the German league Bundesliga. The Merseysiders signed three midfielders, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch from the German league.

Moreover, another midfielder whose name surfaced the most in the early days of the summer transfer window was French midfielder Manu Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach.

And latest report has provided some positive updates regarding the player.

Liverpool could sign Manu Kone in winter

According to a new report via Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, the Merseyside club is still monitoring the Manu Kone situation.

The 22-year-old suffered a knee injury in the U-21 European Championships in June. And he has been out of play since then, resulting in his market value dropping from €40M to €24M (£20.6M).

And the Reds could try to capitalize on this situation and sign the Frenchman in winter. The report mentioned that Italian side Juventus have also grown interest in the midfielder to replace Paul Pogba.

For LFC, although they signed Wataru Endo to replace the Saudi-bound Fabinho, the Japanese international is not a like-for-like replacement. Rather the Japanese international is a temporary fix.

So the Anfield giants and Jurgen Klopp should focus on looking into a long-term solution in the defensive-midfielder position. And Kone looks like the right candidate.

The French international is young, which is one of the most preferred criteria for the Merseysiders. And even though he is a defensive midfielder, he has the ability to create from the back with his passing and dribbling.

Would Liverpool sign the youngster still remains a question and the answer will come in the winter.
