Liverpool are returning to PL to face Wolves after the international break but injuries within the team can be concerning for Jurgen Klopp.
After having a good transfer window, the Merseysiders started off the 2023-24 PL campaign pretty well. Before heading into the international break, the club secured 3 victories in 4 matches.
After drawing the opening game of the season against Chelsea, the Reds have consecutively won 3 out of the 3 matches with that enthralling 2-1 victory against Newcastle United.
And now they sit in the 3rd position with 10 points with 6 goal difference. This Saturday the Anfield giants will take on Wolves returning from the international break.
But the injury update is a little bit concerning for the team.
Liverpool to face Wolves in the PL but injuries might affect
Liverpool might miss four important players on their next outing to Molineux. Vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up a hamstring injury against Aston Villa.
While commenting on all the injury updates on the pre-match conference, Klopp commented on Trent’s situation. The boss said,
“He [Trent Alexander-Arnold] is not available [for Wolves], we knew that before. He didn’t train with the team once yet and will take a little bit.
It is not the worst hamstring injury you can have but it’s a hamstring injury and they barely heal in two weeks – and this one didn’t, either.
As he is running already, we hope he can start ball work early next week and then we will see and go from there.”
Another player who might not be available is defender Ibrahima Konate. The Frenchman missed the last two Reds matches due to muscle injury and had to withdraw from France’s national team.
However, he returned to training during the international break. Klopp stated,
“Ibou trained for two days with the team.”
Speaking about the long-time injured Thiago, the Merseyside boss said,
“Thiago is running, but that’s it.”
Darwin Nunez recently played for Uruguay against Ecuador but he had to be subbed off at half-time due to fitness concerns. Klopp explained,
“I didn’t see him yet, but we obviously had contact and he said it was fine, but we will see that now and make a couple of decisions there. Darwin should be fine.”
Apart from Alexander-Arnold and Thiago, Klopp looks pretty confident about other player and their fitness. Virgil Van Dijk will also miss out on the game due to his extended suspension.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
