Injury blow for Liverpool ahead of Arsenal clash

Liverpool handed a double injury blow ahead of huge Arsenal clash

Liverpool suffers a major injury blow as the Reds appear to be without attacking talents Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah for their vital clash against the Gunners.

The pair did not take part in training as per the pictures posted on  liverpoolfc.com.

It will be a huge boost to Mikel Arteta’s side given the duo’s impressive stats against the League leaders at Anfield.

It is still unclear how severe any concerns affecting the pair are. However, the fans will be hoping that their absence is just a precautionary measure taken by the club.

Both Thiago and Virgil Van Dijk were spotted back at the AXA training center after missing the game at Stamford Bridge.

Despite an injury blow, positive news for the Reds as Luis Diaz and Thiago were declared available for the Arsenal clash

Liverpool could really do with a reason to be cheerful. On paper, high-flying Arsenal does not look likely to oblige.

After the lackluster display against Chelsea, nobody is expecting Liverpool to win. The Champions League places are looking increasingly distant for the Anfield Giants.

But if key players like Diaz and Thiago can come back and stay fit, any potential absence from Europe’s top table should not last long.

Diaz has not made a single appearance for the Reds since getting injured in October. The Columbian got cruelly re-injured in his winter training camp in Dubai delaying his return to the squad.

Thiago has also been sorely missing from the starting eleven. His latest issue means he has now missed more than 35 percent of games since signing for Liverpool.

Should the Spanish midfielder make it back for the remainder of the season, he could yet influence the Champions League picture.

Virgil van Dijk, who missed the 0-0 draw with Chelsea through illness, was back in with his teammates and seemingly could start again on Sunday.

The Dutch center-back would be likely to line up alongside Ibrahima Konate in place of Joël Matip.
