Liverpool deal agreed after double-pronged defender decision, with Klopp preparing to benefit next year

L’Equipe reports that young Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio will join Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque on a season-long loan.
The Reds will be finishing off this transfer window in a strong manner as a fourth signing is imminent.
The club successfully signed midfielders Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo this summer.
And despite the departures of several senior players, Jurgen Klopp has been holding everything pretty well. The victory against Newcastle has been evidence of that.
However, as Virgil Van Dijk got a red card, Klopp now has a major issue to resolve. With Ibrahima Konate still injured, He will now have to play Joel Matip and Joe Gomez against Aston Villa.
Amid all this another report confirms a Merseyside defender leaving the club.
Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio to join USL Dunkerque
According to a report via L’Equipe, 20-year-old defender Billy Koumetio will join Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque on a season-long loan.
But the deal does not have any buy-option, meaning that the club is willing to retain the player.
The French U-20 international joined the Anfield giants back in 2018 from US Orleans after coming through the youth ranks of Lyon. So he will be returning to his homeland after 5 years.
The young defender spent half a season of the 2022-23 at Austria Vienna but was soon recalled due to inconsistency in playtime.
Koumetio has featured in 2 games for the Liverpool senior team and one of them was in the Champions League in the 2020-21 season.
The Reds will be hoping to sign a contract extension after he returns from France next season with one year remaining on his contract.
Meanwhile, he will have the necessary experience under his belt to feature under Klopp’s management.
New offer for Joe Gomez
Even though the English defender is a target of Saudi Arabia, a new report from The Times indicates that West Ham United are also interested in him.
However, the 26-year-old’s contract runs out in 2027 and the Reds have no intention of selling him now.
