Liverpool’s hunt for another midfield player has been going on for quite a while now, and we have a new name linked to the Reds in the form of Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.
The Reds have added three new players this summer all assigned to the midfield position. Although there are reports claiming that there would be no further additions before the close of the transfer window, the Anfield Club continues to be linked to midfielders and defenders.
Although all targets have been previously linked with a move to Anfield, this new name has come out of the blue.
As per journalist Ben Jacobs, there is a claim about the Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz being considered by the Reds.
Liverpool discussing signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa?
The ex-Manchester City midfielder has been linked with a move away from Aston Villa for a number of occasions now.
The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have previously been rumoured to have been interested in his services.
The 25-year-old has been incredible for the Villans and moreover, his game has reached a new level under Unai Emery.
He has become a crucial part of the Spaniard’s squad and has also been compared to Manchester United star, Casemiro.
Also, Jacobs has claimed that Liverpool have considered making a move for Luiz during their internal discussions. But as all decisions go, they are yet to make a move for the Brazilian.
“Yeah, Douglas Luiz is a name that has been discussed internally by Liverpool. I’m not aware of any movement at this point.
I think that it’s crystal clear that Liverpool wants to add between now and the end of the window, if the right name becomes available.”
Should the Reds sign the Brazilian?
Douglas Luiz is an incredible footballer and it is not a surprise that Liverpool are considering signing him. The midfielder has proven himself in the Premier League over the past few seasons.
He is excellent on and off the ball, is good with set pieces, and can come up with crucial goals when needed.
He could be the perfect heir for his Brazilian compatriot, Fabinho. Moreover, under a manager like Klopp, he would develop even more for sure.
But it is still unsure that Aston Villa would consider a bid for their key player so late in the window. The midfielder still has three years left on his contract.
So, if Liverpool wants to sign him, they would have to splash the cash, and that to soon as the clock has started ticking for the closure of the Transfer Window.
