Liverpool have been linked with a number of central defensive midfielders this summer and one of them is Boubacar Kamara of Aston Villa.
A French source, Foot Mercato, earlier this month claimed that the Reds are interested in signing the Frenchman.
The former PL player told Football Insider that Liverpool need to pay something astonishing to secure his signing.
“He (Kamara) wasn’t at his best in the first game against Newcastle, but you let players off in the first few games. No top Aston Villa player is up for transfer. If they don’t have to sell, they won’t.
The days of being a selling club are over. I feel that unless Liverpool come out and pay something astonishing, they won’t be getting any deal over the line.”
Liverpool to sign Boubacar Kamara?
Moreover, last month too, former Anfield star, Stan Collymore said that the French midfielder would be an ‘excellent’ signing for Klopp.
Kamara had an injury-hit campaign last time out but was impressive in the number 6 role under Emery.
He started 22 games for the Spaniard and helped Villa keep 6 clean sheets. This season though, he was average against the Magpies where the Clarets conceded 5 goals.
However, he redeemed the next game against Everton in their 4-0 victory where he was rock solid. He even impressed in the 5-0 win over Hibernian in the UEFA Conference League qualifier.
Kamara has been capped thrice for France and has three years left in his current Villa contract. He also reportedly earns around £175,000 a week.
This could be a perfect scenario for Klopp as he is also looking to replace Fabinho.
Kamara would fit in perfectly into the Klopp system as a number 6. Along with Kamara, Liverpool are also in the race to sign Andre and Ryan Gravenberch this summer.
It would be interesting to see whom the Merseysiders land before the closing of the transfer window.
