Comments from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp about young attacker Jadon Sancho amid his fallout with Manchester United have surfaced up again.
Relations between former Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and the Red Devils have gotten worse in the last few days.
Apparently, the player’s training performances were not convincing enough so Eric Ten Hag chose to remove him from the squad.
Since then it has gone downhill with Sancho complaining about the decision on social media but soon deleting that.
These actions have made Ten Hag angry, banning the player from any club facilities and training with the team.
In a complicated situation like this, his future at the club looks pretty uncertain. However, the Merseysiders coach had said a few things about the England international which are surfacing up again.
Liverpool boss Klopp commented on Jadon Sancho
While the player was impressing everyone with his performances in the Bundesliga back in 2019, he was linked with several clubs for potential transfer. And the Anfield giants also were a potential suitor.
However, Klopp did not take all the rumours seriously as the club definitely would not have spent big money. He said via the Mirror,
“Buying English players is a smart idea because we would never have a chance to get Sancho.”
In 2020 the German had something different to say,
“The red shirt [of Liverpool] would suit very well. I don’t think such a transfer will be possible this season. He [Sancho] is a very interesting player. [But] if he’s coming to Liverpool I would be the most surprised of all of us.”
Right after the Covid pandemic, there were some rumours which were doing some rounds. Klopp was firm on the club’s decision saying,
“I hear a lot about big-money moves, I don’t know if Kylian Mbappe is going or not, whether (Erling) Haaland or Sancho will, these kinds of players. I don’t see that happening this summer because the football world is still not in the same place it was before.”
And lastly, when Liverpool and Manchester United faced each other in October 2021, he had something to say about him. Sancho was finding it hard to settle into the United team so Klopp defended him by saying,
“Jadon Sancho is a world-class talent. Definitely, he has all the things you need to become really one of the best players in the world in the future. That’s how it is, but he’s still very young. At Dortmund, they were obviously full of praise for him. Rightly so.”
Even though the situation at Old Trafford is not so good, Sancho’s abilities are definitely unquestionable. His disciplinary issues however need fixing and the sooner it happens, the better it is for both parties.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
