Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson will be leaving Anfield this summer and his move to Saudi club Al-Ettifaq is imminent.
Liverpool are facing both ups and downs in this summer transfer window. On one hand, the Reds have lost players like James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita. While on the other side, the Merseysiders have also signed new players like Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Reds are going through a midfield rebuild right now and the new signings are a result of that process.
And amid all this, the club will be losing captain Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. Both of them have been linked with Saudi clubs for a potential summer move.
Henderson however, has been the prime target for the Saudi side Al-Ettifaq. The Liverpool skipper was rumoured to receive a mammoth-sized wage of £700K per week. But the actual figures are quite less than that.
Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq reaches an agreement for Jordan Henderson
According to the latest news from Marc Mechenoua on Twitter, there are still ‘details to be sorted’. While it is now confirmed that the English international will move to Saudi Arabia.
The 33-year-old would be signing a three-year contract worth €15M per year. Which will divide down to €289K per week which in ponds will be £250K per week. This figure is significantly less than the amount mentioned earlier.
He is leaving the Merseysiders clearly because of the money involved in the transfer. However, there are still talks about how Steven Gerrard might have lured Henderson to come join him at Al-Ettifaq.
As it stands, for now, Liverpool really needs a strong signing to bolster their midfield. Names of Southampton star Romeo Lavia, Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure and Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips have already started surfacing up.
Now would be the perfect time to use the money from all these player sales and buy some new exciting and bit experienced midfielders.
