Kylian Mbappe, the captain and forward for Paris Saint-Germain, has reportedly turned down a deal to join Arsenal this summer in favor of his dream move to Real Madrid.
The Frenchman has been offered a staggering one-year deal worth €700m by Al-Hilal, a Saudi Pro League club, with PSG accepting a bid of €300m.
While as per recent reports, it is believed that the Ligue 1 Star remains determined to achieve his goals in Europe and will reject the Saudi offer.
Journalists on Mbappe Transfer
French football journalist Lisa Leroux thinks Mbappe “really is a once-in-a-generation player”. But Leroux thinks that “he won’t go, for him it’s more than just about the money”.
Leroux told BBC Sport:
“No player has ever been offered this salary in football, and I think even in sporting history for one year.
The salary that he would be getting would just be historic and out of this world. It would be about 59m euros a month, almost 2m euros a day.”
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has explained how Saudi Arabia are able to make such huge offers for players in comparison to European clubs. Maguire said,
“What distinguishes the Saudi Pro League from European football is there isn’t the restriction of financial fair play.
Therefore, even if Premier League clubs do offer more money, they will always be out-bid as they [the Saudi clubs] don’t have any cost control restrictions.”
Arsenal and Liverpool: Unlikely Destination for Mbappe
PSG decided to put him up for sale after believing he had already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.
Arsenal positioned themselves for the move. Although they boasted funds and squad space, but Mbappe has made his intentions clear and turned down their offer.
It was alleged yesterday that Liverpool had made Mbappe a “super offer” that would cause Real Madrid to “tremble”. Although it is highly improbable that the Reds would have the money to make such a deal.
Mbappe Destined for Real Madrid
Reports suggest that Real Madrid are the most likely destination for Mbappe. And he is getting closer to fulfilling his dream to play for them. The Spanish newspaper Nacional agrees with this claim.
Mbappe’s stance showcases a powerful example of player agents and sets a precedent for others. His decision to wait for his desired move to Real Madrid, without compromising his contractual obligations, reflects his control over his future.
Despite speculation and interest from other top European clubs, it seems that Mbappe’s heart is set on joining Real Madrid.
As his story unfolds, the football world eagerly awaits the final decision, which may shape the future of player transfers in the sport.
