Liverpool supporters have something to cheer on as the Premier League legend Jamie Carragher handed some breaking news, on the final day of January.

Carragher on Liverpool news

The ex-LFC player took his Twitter account to break the news

“Breaking News! Liverpool have made an approach and are trying to buy back Melwood for LFC Women’s Team!”.

When the Merseyside giants let go of Melwood in order to move to the AXA Training Centre, it was soon bought by the Bootle-born pundit and Robbie Fowler for their respective charities and academies and so it still has the facilities available to be used as a premier sporting location.

This could be a historic day for the Reds women’s team. It would be a landmark day that shows the progression of the female game and also manages to keep a physical piece of our history in place.

Issues in Men’s team

On the other hand, the Merseyside giants men’s team did not have a great transfer window. The Reds signed young Holland international Cody Gakpo at the start of the transfer window.

But since then the Reds have been linked with several midfielders but unable to land any of them to Anfield till now. Meanwhile, Enzo Fernandez has already now signed a deal with Chelsea. The Argentinian was linked with the Merseyside club too for the last few weeks. But the deal could not take place with the ex-Benfica star due to the English giant’s financial difficulties.

Jurgen Klopp seriously needs players in the middle of the park. LFC’s midfield trio have been abysmal this season. They lack the creativity and attacking inputs in the forward line.

Moreover, Liverpool are out of FA Cup and Carabao Cup, and they are currently struggling to secure the top 4 spot. Thus, it might be just another season to forget for the Red half of the Merseyside.
