Naby Keita’s injury hell still haunting Liverpool as the midfielder suffered another issue while on international duty for Guinea.

The Reds are concerned that the 28-year-old may face yet another absence for a considerable period of time.

Keita was subbed off at halftime in Guinea’s 3-2 AFCON qualifying win over Ethiopia on Monday. The Guinean midfielder has not taken part in any training sessions since returning to Merseyside.

A full diagnosis of the problem which is still unclear will take place on Friday. However, as per Goal, the midfielder will certainly miss the Premier League games against Manchester City and Chelsea.

Is this injury the final nail in the coffin for Naby Keita’s future at Merseyside?

At this point, a further injury setback would raise the question of whether Keita has played his final Liverpool game.

The 28-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season. During his five-year tenure with the club, he has struggled with fitness issues.

As for this season, Keita has only managed five starts in thirteen appearances for the Reds. Since being substituted at halftime against Crystal Palace at the end of February, he has not played a single game.

Keita’s injury issues this year have been a big blow for Liverpool, who have also lost several other key performers to injury over the course of the season.

Following a difficult 2022/23 campaign, Klopp will look to revamp his midfield options without a doubt during the summer transfer window.

As claimed by The Athletic earlier this month, Keita along with Oxlade Chamberlain and Juventus loanee Arthur Melo are not in Liverpool’s plans going forward.

Former Liverpool star Michael Owen has also insisted that the 28-year-old is just not good enough to play for the Reds anymore. And now it looks like Keita will miss his final games for the Merseysiders as well.
