Ian Wright has slammed Al-Ittihad’s approach for Mo Salah, as the former Arsenal striker fumes over how late the Saudi side moved for the Liverpool winger.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wright Show, the pundit was not pleased with how Al-Itthad had gone about their pursuit of Salah. The Reds received a huge £150m offer on deadline day for the winger.
Even though Klopp has labeled the Egyptian not for sale and untouchable, the Saudi club is preparing a second bid for the player.
There have been reports that suggest that Salah might fall prey and move to the Middle East. But the pundit says that the way the Saudi club has gone about their interest is ‘poor’ this season.
Ian Wright comments on Salah to Al-Ittihad transfer saga
The Saudi transfer window is open until Thursday, 6 days after the English window has been shut.
The former Arsenal striker has openly slammed the Saudi side and called their late pursuit ‘disrespectful’ to the player.
“To come in for a player of that calibre, of that level, you’re not going to let him go at that stage of the window but it’s almost disrespectful to him.
If you’re going to do that, then do it in time because you’re trying to buy him. Now he’s just unsettled.”
Moreover, these statements by the pundit also make sense. The Saudi side is indeed making a mockery of both the club and the player.
Indeed, Liverpool will let Salah go when they see fit and at the right time. And even with the amounts Al-Ittihad are offering, the Reds know better than to sell the winger without a replacement lined up.
Apart from that, this news seemed to be bothering the winger a little as he has continued his great form. He has a goal involvement in each game this season, with 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 games.
It is to be seen how this strange transfer saga unfolds in the coming days.
