Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson will not be in the Reds’ squad for their first pre-season game despite traveling with them in the camp.
The 33-year-old would not be in the squad for Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly against Karlsruher SC in Germany.
As per reports, the England international would not be playing despite traveling with the team to Germany.
Reports suggested last week that the former Southampton midfielder had agreed personal terms with the Saudi club.
Moreover, he would be earning a hefty £700,000 per week at Al-Ettifaq. This could be a huge factor for the Englishman added to the fact that he would have his game-time reduced at Liverpool.
Jordan Henderson not in the Liverpool squad: Transfer obvious?
Fabrizio Romano announced on Twitter that Henderson is not in the Liverpool squad against the German second-division club. However, this left the Reds’ faithful to think the obvious about their skipper’s future at the club.
Moreover, now multiple reports are suggesting that the Reds are willing to let go of their captain. The PL club are, however, demanding at least £20m for the England international, with talks ongoing between the two clubs.
This would be the final nail in the coffin after Hendo reportedly having given a ‘verbal agreement’ to Al-Ettifaq. This might bring his 12-year stay at Anfield to an end.
However, Fabinho is also linked to move away from the club with interest from Al-Ittihad.
The Saudi club has submitted a £40m bid for the Brazilian, who still has three years left on his deal at Anfield.
Unlike Henderson, Fabinho did not travel with the rest of the squad for their pre-season training camp in Germany. Liverpool expects the Brazilian to move on this summer.
Should Henderson and Fabinho both leave, Klopp will be desperate to sign further midfield reinforcements.
Indeed they brought in Mac Allister and Szoboszlai to the club in the current transfer window. But if the two experienced midfielders are to be leaving, then they do need replacements.
There are several names in their list including Romeo Lavia and Khephren Thuram. The Reds now need to take action and get ready for the next season.
