Liverpool are almost ready to name a club doctor after a protracted hiring process.

Liverpool to recruit a new doctor for the medical role

The Premier League powerhouses hired a headhunting agency to assist them to compile a shortlist of applicants for the crucial medical position.

The Merseyside giants are now in advanced negotiations to add an experienced operator to Jurgen Klopp’s backroom staff.

It is reported that the main contender has been given a deal, and the conditions are almost set. The entire process, which started when Moxon left in the summer following Liverpool’s preseason tour, has been managed by director of football Julian Ward.

Some have claimed that the lack of a club doctor to manage Liverpool’s exceptionally long injury list this season is to blame.

The injury shenanigans since the beginning of the season

However, insiders refute that, stating that the medical team’s function is reactive. And a number of other reasons are responsible for the apparently endless line of setbacks.

These include the amount of time each player spends in matches as well as training and injury-preventive techniques.

Liverpool had 10 first-team players in the hospital at one point in August. And the number of casualties has hardly decreased since.

Following surgery to repair a ruptured thigh muscle in October, Arthur Melo was given a four-month absence restriction. Star attackers Luis Diaz (knee) and Jota (calf) are both undergoing significant rehabilitation and are anticipating similar lengths of absence.

Naby Keita hasn’t played since late July, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, another injury-prone midfielder, has only made one substitute appearance.

While Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones missed most of the season due to injuries, Calvin Ramsay has just recently made his first-team debut after missing three months.

The squad and the whole club need to utilize this World Cup break as much as they can. For a club that played every match possibly last season- it is horrible to see them in this position.
