Liverpool target Andre Trindade has given an explanation as to why he could not join the Anfield side this summer and chose to stay at Fluminese.
The Reds are still in search of a defensive midfielder despite signing Wataru Endo this summer. However, Endo’s signing was a hurried attempt to fix the No. 6 position as they missed out on several targets.
Although most of the Merseyside targets signed for other teams, Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade chose to stay at Fluminese. And recently he spoke about why he did so.
Explanation of Andre Trindade on not joining Liverpool
Prior to the Copa Libertadores final, the 22-year-old spoke to Globo Esporte where he explained his situation. He stated,
“I’ve never talked about it, the first time I’ll talk about will be now. It really was an irrefutable proposal for the club that it was, for the big league. I think every player one day dreams of playing for a big club in Europe, in a big league.
But I decided to keep my word because, when the January window closed, Diniz arrived and told me that he wanted me here until the end of the year. We didn’t know that a proposal of this value would arrive.
I told him that, regardless of what happened, I would be there until the end of the year. It ended up passing and, reaching the middle of the year, we were still in the round of 16 of the Libertadores. It was a very difficult decision to make…
…Coming to the final, everyone will say now that I made the right decision. I think it was a very faithful gesture on my part to stay, try to get this title and try to help as much as possible. So today, regardless of whether our team made it to the quarterfinals, semis and finals or not, I was sure I made the right choice.”
This goes to show how much of a committed and determined player he is. This will eventually benefit the Anfield giants who are actively pursuing him and hoping to sign him in January.
If this deal goes through then LFC would have a phenomenal talent in their team who will elevate this current team even further.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
