Liverpool are reportedly close to signing Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who has already indicated to Jurgen Klopp the position he would like to play.

Liverpool are said to have presented the financial details of their project to Mac Allister, who is expected to leave Brighton early in the transfer window. Mac Allister is likely to operate on the left or right of a midfield three or even in an attacking role behind the central striker if Klopp decides to go down that route.
However, Chelsea’s pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino could scupper Liverpool’s plans to sign Mac Allister. If Pochettino takes over at Stamford Bridge, it could have implications for Liverpool and Manchester United’s pursuit of Mac Allister because of the Argentina connection.
Mac Allister has scored 10 goals in all competitions for Brighton and played a crucial role in the club’s battle to secure European football for the first time in their history. The Argentina World Cup winner has established himself in the club’s starting XI over the last three seasons.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that,
“They [Liverpool] presented their project to the player side. Liverpool had direct meeting to present their project to Alexis Mac Allister.
They are going to push on the player and then they feel that they can close the deal with Brighton. So the point is the player.
But Liverpool are going to push in the next weeks for Alexis Mac Allister.”
Liverpool are said to be stepping up their pursuit of Alexis Mac Allister, who is expected to move this summer and discussions are advancing, but an agreement is not yet done.
Liverpool fans at one time were still hoping that Jude Bellingham would choose to go to Anfield, despite Klopp saying that it would not be the case. However, the Borussia Dortmund star looks set to move to Real Madrid now.
Klopp’s team needs to find another midfielder to come in this summer, with the problems they’ve had in the center of the park all season.
