It is reported that Liverpool have made contact to sign both Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice, both being valued at well over £75 million, each.
Since ending their pursuit of signing their long-term midfield target Bellingham, the Reds are linked to a number of other alternatives. As of today, the Mirror has reported that Liverpool are in contact with Caicedo and Rice. It is claimed that both midfielders are rated at more than £75 million.
Rice and Caicedo to Liverpool?
The Ecuador international has been one of the best midfielders in the league and has impressed Brighton. The South American has been a constant pressing machine and has been a key player for the Seagulls.
He was even linked heavily with Arsenal but the Seagulls managed to extend his contract until 2027. Caicedo joined Brighton from Independiente in 2021 and was loaned to the Belgian side Beerschot V.A. He later returned to Brighton last year and has been one of the stand-out performers in the squad.
However, on the other hand, Rice has been inconsistent this season with the Hammers but his quality as a midfielder is undeniable. He has shown his quality with West Ham and England over the years and was also linked to a move to a top 4 club in the previous seasons.
He was also one of the key players of the England squad which reached the 2020 Euro finals and the Quarterfinals of the World Cup.
The 24-year-old is currently on the Liverpool radar just like Caicedo as Klopp looks to rebuild his midfield for the next season.
Who are the other midfield targets for Liverpool?
Besides the obvious choices of Mount, Gravenberch, Nunes, Mac Allister, Rice and Caicedo, the Reds also target a few others in that position.
Klopp has been a long admirer of the French midfielder, Tchouaméni. He even was said to have shown interest in signing the midfielder last summer. However, the Frenchman eventually joined Real Madrid.
Another midfielder that is said to be a cheaper alternative is Fulham’s Joao Palhinha. The Lisbon-born player is said to cost around £40 million.
The 27-year-old joined the English side in the summer of last year from Sporting CP. He has played 26 games this season for Fulham and has scored 3 goals. The defensive midfielder has impressed in England and looks to be set for a move to a relatively bigger club.
It is for sure going to be a huge summer transfer window for Liverpool given their abysmal form this season. There would be huge expectations from the Kopites and they would also be expecting quality signings for next season.
