Liverpool have turned their attention towards the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, Matheus Nunes, as the Portuguese international would be available for around £50 million.

It was claimed that the Reds had made a move for Nunes last season but were not successful.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are in a pole position to sign Nunes and are prepared to do more business with Gestifute. Moreover, it was the same agency company that also oversaw Darwin Nunez’s £64.2 million move to Anfield.

It is reported that Wolves value the former Sporting CP midfielder at £50 million. However, he could be available for cheap if the club ends up getting relegated.

Wolves are currently 13th in the table and are just 4 points off of the relegation spot. Moreover, they were beaten by Leeds at the weekend and Nunes was red-carded in the last minutes of the game.

Nunes seemed visibly angry at the ref’s decision to award Rodrigo’s late goal in the 4-2 loss. He had to be held back by teammates before being sent off deep into injury time.

How would Nunes fare at Liverpool?

Nunes joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon last summer for a club-record £42.2 million and has made 29 appearances while assisting just once.

Even though he has not impressed in the Premier League, Klopp seems to be interested in bringing the 24-year-old to Anfield. In contrast to this, he has won several domestic titles in Portugal.

Jurgen Klopp has had issues with his midfield and looks at an overhaul this summer. Even though the main target has been Jude Bellingham, the Reds are open to other creative midfielders.

Klopp has an aging midfield and needs players who can consistently press in his system. On the other hand, their main play breaker, Fabinho, has been out of form this season.

However, it is yet to be seen where the Portuguese midfielder would end up in the next season.
