Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has said that he would sell his star talent Ronnie Edwards to Liverpool if the opportunity was there.
The Irish businessman spoke highly of the 20-year-old defender while talking on the Hard Truth podcast. He went on to say that he would love Liverpool to sign the Englishman if an opportunity arises.
“He’s going to have a great career. I’d love my club in the Premier League [Liverpool] to buy him.”
Even though it is highly unlikely for the Merseysiders to buy the defender, comments from the League One side’s chairman has suggested that they are keen on selling the defender for a huge sum, albeit in the future.
Edwards has been highly regarded and has been one of the most exciting talents in League One this season. Moreover, the Harlow-born defender is playing a key role in his club’s push for a playoff spot, as the campaign draws to an end.
The former Barnet man is into his third season with Peterborough and has played nearly 70 games. Moreover, MacAnthony has already predicted that Edwards could be on his way to a PL club if the chance arises. However, whether that club will be Liverpool is another debate entirely.
Liverpool signing Ronnie Edwards: could be one for the future
With Edwards impressing, what many believe, is one of the most difficult leagues in English Football, Liverpool might as well consider the prospect of signing the Englishman. Moreover, with few defenders including Williams set to leave, the Posh man could be one for the future at Anfield.
If the League One club are open to selling the defender, Klopp could get his hands on the 20-year-old. Especially, looking at the signings the Reds have made from lower divisions, who have been regular starters for Klopp.
