Former Liverpool winger, Sadio Mane could be in contention for a shock return to his Merseyside after a disastrous Bayern Munich season.
Mane left for the German giants last summer in a deal worth £30m. He won every possible trophy with the Reds and was one of the best players under Klopp.
The ex-Southampton player became an Anfield legend during his six years in Merseyside. He scored 120 goals in 269 appearances.
The Senegalese formed a formidable trio along with Firmino and Salah which dominated the whole of Europe. However, things didn’t transition the way the 31-year-old had hoped when he moved to Bavaria.
The infamous dressing room bust-up with teammate Leroy Sane after UCL defeat to Man City saw him being suspended by the club. Moreover, for the remainder of the season, the 31-year-old player had little to no role in helping Bayern snatch the title from Dortmund.
Sadio Mane could make a shock return to Liverpool
As per German news outlets, Allianz chiefs are planning a drastic shake-up after almost losing their grip on the division to Dortmund.
Moreover, after the title as well, the board sacked CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. Also, there have been rumours about letting go of Mane, Sane, and Gnabry before the next season.
As per reports, Mane could be in line for a shocking return to his old club, Liverpool.
This could very well pave the way for a Liverpool return but with the new additions of Gakpo and Nunez, it might not be an ideal situation for Klopp. Not that Mane would not be suitable for the Reds. There is no doubt about the force of nature that Mane is, but he might not be a regular starter for Klopp.
The Liverpool front line is currently stacked with Salah, Nunez, Gakpo, Jota, and Diaz. However, he could be used for depth if Liverpool progress in the deeper stages of all club competitions.
