According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have agreed on a deal worth £60 million with Southampton for Romeo Lavia, while Chelsea are still not out of the race.
The deal will eventually come down to the player’s choice and the clubs reaching an agreement.
Romeo Lavia to Liverpool or Chelsea
Lavia is in high demand this summer, with both Liverpool and Chelsea interested. He appeared to be on his way to Stamford Bridge over the weekend.
As it was rumored that Chelsea have made a £55 million bid and the offer will be accepted by Southampton.
However, according to rumours this morning, Liverpool have now outbid Chelsea and is back in the running.
Moreover, details have revealed that the Reds have also reached a complete agreement with the Championship club for Romeo Lavia.
But as we say Transfer Market is crazy, and there is yet another twist in the deal, Sky Sports News are reporting that Chelsea are still keen on signing the midfielder.
While Sky’s Rob Wotton stated this morning on the broadcast that it may come down to player preference in the end.
“One source has told Sky Sports News that Chelsea are pushing to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. An agreement between the clubs understood to be close. Personal terms not expected to be a problem,”
Wotton said.
“Personal terms are not expected to be a problem. As we reported at the weekend this is independent of the deal for Moises Caicedo. Liverpool remain interested, held talks with Southampton over the weekend and again, personal terms with Liverpool not expected to be an issue. This will come down to an agreement between clubs, and the player’s choice.”
The Reality
The reality of our predicament is that every team will make us overpay today because they sense we are desperate for players and have demonstrated that we have money to spend.
We will overspend for a player unless we exercise a release clause. Signing deals like Mac Allister requires early planning and attack, something we haven’t done since the Mac Allister signing.
Let’s prepare to overpay, it’s our reality now.
