Reports from Brazil have suggested that Liverpool might reignite their interest in the Fluminense midfielder, Andre Trindade.
As per NetFlu, the Reds are said to have eyes on a potential €40m release clause. After being rejected for the third time by Southampton for Lavia, the Merseysiders are reigniting their interest in the Brazilian.
However, the Brazilian outfit is hesitant to part ways with the central dynamo, who is a key component in their midfield.
They are third in their league and are in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores, following a victory over Argentinian side Argentinios Juniors.
Fluminense finds themselves in a favorable spot. This prominence, however, doesn’t appear to shield them from the Merseyside giants’ advances.
Liverpool to bid for Andre?
The news of Liverpool looking to bid for Andre comes on the back of their failed attempts to sign Romeo Lavia. The Athletic reported Andre as a potential alternative for Klopp if the Lavia deal collapses.
But, the buzz around the Brazilian has quietened a bit for now. However, the increasing rejections by Southampton could push the Reds back into the 22-year-old’s direction.
With the season opener against Chelsea on the horizon, questions are being raised about Liverpool’s approach.
Their thriftiness, evident in the Lavia debacle, leaves them potentially heading into the Chelsea clash without an established defensive midfield presence.
This uncertainty was seemingly reflected in Jurgen Klopp’s remarks post their final pre-season fixture.
“I need to find a team and formation only for the game against Chelsea, not the whole season.”
Andre or Lavia or both?
The Reds are in dire need of a midfielder after the departures of Fabinho and Henderson. However, the question remains whether they need one or more players in the middle of the park.
Moreover, the players on the list, Lavia and Andre seem tailor-made for Klopp and Liverpool. However, their huge asking prices would play a major role in the Reds signing either of them.
Also, the Merseysiders could choose to walk away from both the deals like the Thuram deal if they feel it is too expensive. But the question is, could Liverpool afford to lose out on any of these players?
