Liverpool will be doing a lot of business in the summer transfer window but for now they will not be signing Nicolo Barella.
The Italian international has been on the radar of the Reds for a long time now. The midfielder impressed Jurgen Klopp who stated that he is ‘top class’ when the Reds faced Inter. And since then the Inter Milan star’s name has popped up in the list of potential transfers.
Nicolo Barella to Liverpool is not happening anymore
While the midfielder is constantly being linked with Liverpool, he still might consider staying at his current club. According to a report via Sky Sports, Barella is more convinced to stay at Inter Milan as he is trying to achieve club legend status.
And the 26-year-old has already quite reached that status. He helped Inter Milan win the Scudetto in the 2020-21 season. The Italian international also played a key role for the Nerazzurris in reaching the UEFA Champions League Final this season. Unfortunately, they lost to the treble-winners Manchester City.
Also Newcastle United signed Sandro Tonali for £52M this window. So the Italian side will demand a lot more for Barella and Liverpool will not be willing to spend that much money.
Plenty of options for Liverpool
Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister and now they are trying to sign more players. Recent reports suggest the name of Romeo Lavia and Dominik Szoboszlai (Dominik is already a done deal). Also, French midfield duo Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram are also in the mix. So that possibility also should not be ignored.
Although Barella wants to become a club legend that does not mean the probability of the Merseysiders signing him should be discarded. There is a reason that many PL clubs along with Liverpool have been interested to sign him.
The Italian midfielder is an interesting player and the world would love to see him perform in the PL. He possesses all the qualities to shine in the toughest league of football.
So it is safe to say that even though Liverpool are not pursuing Nicolo Barella at the moment, he will be a candidate of choice in the coming winter or next summer.
