Liverpool thrashed Brentford 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday thanks to goals from Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino. Let’s take a look at Liverpool player ratings for this match.

The Reds struggled in the first half, as Brentford’s low block stood its ground. It was just before halftime, that they were gifted an opener, which opened the flood gates.

While the absence of Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane was still noticeable, their constant pressure and possession helped them win the game.

Liverpool player ratings vs Brentford

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Alisson (GK) – 7/10

The Brazilian caught a couple of crosses but had little to do as he made only one save. His passing out was pretty poor though, something we are not used to seeing. Overall a decent game.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) – 7.5/10

Only his second game after getting infected with Covid, Trent had a pretty good game. He assisted Fabinho’s goal and created four chances in total. He even fired a couple of decent shots, off-target though.

Joel Matip (CB) – 7/10

Another good performance from the 30-year-old Cameroonian. He not only dealt well with Mbeumo but was also able to bring the ball out from the back.

Virgil van Dijk (CB) – 7/10

An efficient performance from the tall Dutchman, saw Liverpool keep a clean sheet. He came very close to scoring the opener and was able to make some decent recovery runs.

Andy Robertson (LB) – 8/10

The Scot completed the most passes in the match(70) and even came up with the cross for Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal. He also created four chances, summing up another great performance.

Midfielders

Jordan Henderson (CM) – 6/10

Even though it was a quiet performance from the captain, he was still decent. A little wayward with his passing, he still made plenty of overlapping runs.

Fabinho (CM) – 9/10

For many, Fabinho was the man of the match and deservedly so. He not only scored the opener but was also consistent and impressive in the defence. He also created four chances. Showed why he is an integral part of this team.

Curtis Jones (CM) – 7/10

While he lost the most duels in the game(11), he also made the most dribbles(3) in the match. He did quite well on the ball and covered his side of midfield really well. Overall a good performance.

Forwards

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (RW) – 7/10

Scored Liverpool’s second goal and even forced a good save from Fernandez with his header. Also created three chances. Overall a decent performance.

Roberto Firmino (ST) – 6/10

Looked a little rusty and short of ideas, even though he was able to get an assist for Takumi Minamino’s goal. Had only one shot on target and failed to be impressive. Need better performances from him in the upcoming games.

Diogo Jota (LW) – 6.5/10

Jota had six shots, an xG of 0.85 and hit the woodwork once. A game where he should have scored, a game where he was almost really good. A decent performance, but no output to show for it.

Substitutes

Takumi Minamino (RW) – 7/10

Was able to get himself a birthday goal three minutes after coming on. A useful and quite effective cameo from the 27-year-old Japanese.

James Milner (CM) – 5/10

Came on in the 77th minute, but could not really add anything useful to the game.

Kaide Gordon (LW) – 6/10

Exciting to see him get a run in the league, however failed to get his first premier league goal by missing a one-on-one.
