Emotions were high in the stands as Liverpool player, Luis Diaz’s father joyously celebrated his son’s match-winning goals against Brazil.
It had been extremely testing times for the Columbian’s family with Luis Manuel Diaz Jimenez held hostage by the ELN for almost 2 weeks.
After Luis Diaz’s public appeal to free his father, the ELN agreed to a few terms and conditions with the Columbian government.
The winger still played for the Reds, away from his family in Columbia, and helped the Reds secure a point against Luton Town. He also displayed a message beneath his jersey asking for his father to be freed.
Moreover, the family was reunited with Diaz’s father and attended the game against Brazil. The Liverpool winger was in top form as he scored twice to secure a comeback win against Brazil.
Liverpool shares heart-warming gesture to Luis Diaz and his family
Carl Markham reported on Twitter (X) that Liverpool have planned to send a private jet to the player’s parents and their close family to bring them to England for the Christmas period.
This would be a great gesture from the club especially after what the winger had to go through in the past few weeks.
It would be a great feeling to spend Christmas with his family and friends in the UK. It’s a truly heart-warming gesture from the club.
Indeed it won’t instantly repair the emotional damage caused by the ordeal. But it’s good to know that the club is making efforts to look after their own.
Next up for the Reds
Liverpool now travel to the home of Champions, Manchester City, on 25th. The form that the players have shown in the international fixtures has been very positive.
Darwin Nunez has been amazing for Uruguay and so has Luiz Diaz for Columbia. Although Mac Allister has not been at his best, he will surely bounce back. Should this continue, the Reds could beat the Treble winners and go on top of the table on Saturday.
